Hanging with the Fishes

A couple weeks ago Jared and I decided Grace needed some real fun. She'd been so sick, and every time we thought about taking her somewhere, something else always came up. She loves one particular Baby Einstein DVD, and smiles and dances to the fish song. "Hey little fishes, would you like to take a swim with me?" You'd know it if you heard it. I promise, it's burned onto my memory. Anyway, we planned a super special day at the aquarium for her. Silly Mama forgot the camera at home, so the picture quality blows isn't very good.

Grace really had a great time. She kept trying to say "fish" over and over. She pointed and smiled all day long. Although if she could tell you, I think her favorite part of the day was lunch. Not a lot of options at the aquarium, so cheese pizza it was. I swear, she ate nothing but junk that whole weekend.

Mommy's Favorite Cousin

Dearest Donna,
You win! You're my favorite cousin! This tops my Grace's Bird Bird chair, even though the Big Bird chair rocks!
Melissa

When I was little my awesome and favorite cousin Donna got me a Big Bird chair. And it is the coolest. What thanks did she get? I'm not really sure but at some point I think I peed on her. Oops. She made me a quilt when Jared and I got married. It is beautiful, but I was always so scared to use it, because I don't want to mess it up. Also because she "doesn't do repairs", her words, not mine. When I got pregnant I secretly hoped she'd make on for Grace, but I didn't want to ask. I thought it would be rude, but I was really hoping. So yesterday, imagine my surprise when an unexpected package arrives from Donna. I was still hoping. She made this amazing quilt for Grace, and it matches her room perfectly. Isn't she incredible? Thanks Donna! We love it and we love you.

Happy Mother's Day

I'm a little late but so what. While I did change my fair share of diapers on Mother's Day, that particular day I was off poopy diaper duty, and oh did Grace let Daddy have it. 3 times in a row. It was a great weekend, and not just because of the poopy free pass.

To my little Goose,
I love you with all my heart. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, and I'm so proud of how far we've both come in a year. I wished you here for so long, and now that you are, my world is infinitely more beautiful... messier, but beautiful non the less. And honestly, sometimes, I enjoy the mess. I look forward to many more Mother's Days to come with the you, my most precious gift. Thanks for making me a Mom.
love, love, love, love, love,
Mommy

Family Fun Time

Mother's Day weekend was jam packed. And I felt like I needed another weekend to recover.

Uncle Josh and Aunt Jill came by on Saturday and Mommy and Aunt Jill stayed up far to late. Sunday morning we all woke up early for a packed day. After Uncle Josh and Aunt Jill left we waited for Granny, Papaw and Memaw to come by, then it was off to lunch and then to visit Grams.

I want to apologize now for not having any pictures with Grams, but I always forget the camera at the house. So come over for a photo shoot Grams.

Happy 30th Birthday Daddy!

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to Daddy,
Happy Birthday to you.
We love you very much and hope you have a great day.

Grace didn't seem pleased about this whole birthday and cake business. I think she's still suffering some post traumatic stress from her birthday. But, as in most cases, she just like her Daddy and couldn't get enough cookie cake... from the Great American Cookie Company, of course.

Finally Better

Grace just keep getting worse. From Thursday to Thursday she made it to the doctor 4 times. FOUR! First she had thrush, which was caused by all the antibiotics she's been on, then it was a viral infection, which at first glance they thought was strep. The pedi didn't want to put her on antibiotics for the viral infection because it would make the thrush worse, so by Tuesday the viral infection was out of control and Grace was miserable. We went for visit 3 of 4 and she was put on steroids, along with the thrush meds, plus a numbing medicine for her mouth and codeine. I was freaked! By Thursday she was feeling much better for her last doc visit. Plus she got to stay home from school all week, and who wouldn't love that.
