LSU. Makes parents happy!

She can be anything she wants and she wants to be a Tiger fan!

The Little Mermaid

A couple weeks ago we bought Grace her first pool, but because of her ear infections and us not feeling well last weekend we had to wait. So this past Saturday we decided to give it a try. We took turns popping blood vessels and almost giving ourselves coronaries while blowing up her pool. We have since bought an air compressor. Then it was time for Grace to get in. She loved her bathing suit, which was a good thing because it’s almost impossible to find one to fit a 4 1/2 month old.

She was also excited to get outside. She loves to spend time in the fresh air.

At first she wasn’t sure about getting in the water; it’s quite different than bath time.

We brought her pink ducky with us and she was rather impressed but how it swam around all on it’s own, but I think she was more interested in eating it.

After a few minutes she seemed to be having a good time.

We put her belly down and let her decide if she wanted to put her face in water. She put her mouth in it a couple times, and seemed to like it, but then again she puts everything in her mouth now.

Just as a side note, my money’s with pampers. I couldn’t believe how much liquid that diaper could hold!

Squash Anyone?

Yesterday was yet another visit to see Dr. Reed. She still has an ear infection in her left ear. She didn’t get her 4-month shots, because we need to get rid or the ear infection first. But she’s getting hugh! She weighs 14 pounds 8 ounces. Seriously? Sometimes when I look at her in the morning I can swear she’s noticeably bigger. She has another appointment in 2 weeks, so keep your fingers crossed and hopefully we’ll be infection free.

At least one good thing came out of her doctor’s visit. Veggies! Grace had squash for the first time last night. She ate everything we gave her, but made the same unsure face every time she had a bite. She was almost relieved to get another bite of rice cereal, which is a far cry from last week.

…it’s getting better. Sort of.

Well Grace seems to he happier taking rice cereal from the spoon, but when she’s done, she’s done, and ready for her bottle. I won’t tell her, but I miss her bottle too. This spoon thing is tough, and it makes her way less of a baby. I'm so happy for her, but so sad for me. I just wanted to post a couple of her recent and oh so cute pictures.

4 months old!!!!

Grace is now 4 months old! She is such a big girl. While I’m so excited to see her doing new things and gaining more of a personality everyday, it makes me so sad. The last four months have gone by way to fast.

Her 4-month appointment didn’t go so well though. She didn’t get her shots because of being sick last week, and while last week her ears were perfect, this week she has a double ear infection. So we have yet another appointment 2 weeks from now to get all her shots. However, there was good news. Or so we thought. Dr. Reed said we could start rice cereal. Hooray! The whole spoon thing didn’t turn out to be Grace’s cup of tea. I was more worried about the mess but that didn’t come close to all the crying. I felt so bad. All she wanted was her bottle. We went for a second round tonight, which went a little better. I held her and let her have the pacifier in between bites, while Daddy fed her. I’m not really sure if the pacifier thing was a good idea, but it made her happier, and when Grace is happy, Mommy and Daddy are happy. We’ll try to phase it out after a few days, and hopefully move into happy baby spoon feedings.

Happy birthday (Independence Day) Pawpaw!

Grace wore her very special, very patriotic dress for Pawpaw’s birthday on the 4th. I had to go to work to catch up on some things from being out while Grace was sick the previous week, but Daddy and Grace met me for a nice lunch. We had stress free weekend with no vomiting, fever, or poop on the floor, so all in all it was wonderful.

So much to say

Grace turned 3 months old on June 11th, which was our 3rd anniversary. Go ahead and do the math, I’ll wait. Granny and Pawpaw got her some new shoes, but it may be a while before she can wear them.

She is doing new things and getting smarter and funnier everyday. Grace has also been playing and working every hard. She helps Mommy fold cloths, reads books to Daddy, and wipes herself out playing with and talking to her toys. She’s so vocal, even her teachers say so. I wonder who she gets that from?

Last Saturday was Memaw’s birthday, and Grace went all the way to Mississippi to take her to lunch at the casino. She was so good all day.

When we got home Jared and I worked in the yard and Grace watched from her stroller, and Oakley and Itchy watched from the window. That is, while Itchy wasn’t busy pooping on the carpet. Poor guy just couldn’t hold it any longer. I knew they should have been let out again after Jared finished in the backyard. Next time I’ll check on them more often. That night after her bath, I gave Grace a bottle and she gave it right back to me starting the downward spiral that is this week. It seems like every time we get a good routine going Grace throws us curve ball.

So Sunday the projectile vomiting continued, and oh yes, it was all over the carpet. I don’t know what normal formula is like but the super expensive stinky stuff Grace eats could burn holes through concrete. New rule: If you think she’s going to puke don’t sit or stand over anything that can’t go in the wash machine. And although none of the carpet drama was anyone’s fault, it needs to be replaced. I need a steam cleaner! This is too much; even for the Dyson. Yucko. All of this earned Grace a visit to the doctor. We’ll call this visit #1. Dr. Reed said she’s still congested and her ears look great, but back off the formula a bit, which we already started to do. So by Monday night she looked great, and we decided she was okay to go to daycare on Tuesday.

She seemed fine when I picked her up, but after we got home I took her out the car seat and she was burning up. Her temp was at 102. We quickly had some Tylenol and a bath, which helped but then we had another bottle exchange. Luckily most of it landed on me and not the sofa. I’m pretty sure I made a rule about that. Grace’s fever went down, but the 102 earned her a Wednesday visit to the doctor. Visit #2 lasted 2 hours with a different doctor. It was Dr. Reed’s day off. They took blood and put a bag on her for a urine sample. I was very interested to see how they would pull of a urine sample on an infant, but it was pretty easy. After not wanting to give her “sample,” the doctor proceed to scare me into letting them catheterize her by going over how she could have kidney damage brought on by a urinary tract infection. She came close to getting catheterized but came through at the last minute. I think the nurses where just as relieved as me. After all the fun, it was decided that she has a viral infection (no sign of anything wrong with her urine or kidneys), and we were sent home empty handed. But, there’s always a but, we needed to go back today.
Ah, visit #3. This time we saw Dr. Reed and she said Grace looks awesome, cut back on the formula, and keep giving her Tylenol. Awesome? She hasn’t seen the carpet. While I’m glad it’s nothing serious, I do wish there was more they could do to make her feel better. So that’s all, so far, although we will be back next Friday for her 4-month visit.
