Catching up
Okay, so I know it’s been a loooong time since my last post, but I’ve been super busy with a certain birthday party extravaganza! I’ll get to all the birthday stuff in a later blog, but on to the other fun stuff that was February. So I left off on Valentine’s Day. Grace got lots of presents from Mommy, Daddy, Granny, Papaw, Memaw, Grams and even Aunt Judie! Wow, this kid gets a lot of love. We had to wait for sleepy head Daddy to get up to open her presents, which I noticed was starting to really irritate Grace. I got her an oversized Valentine’s ladybug balloon, and she wanted it! NOW! After we opened presents I took what is my favorite picture of Grace so far; her Valentine’s Picture, complete with a red blanket and sweet little red dress. She look like such a proper little lady with her hand on her knee, but let me warn you, do not trust a picture. Grace is as rough and tumble as they come.
Next up was Mommy’s birthday. So the 24th was not only my birthday, it was Mardi Gras and Kelly’s birthday. Happy Birthday again Kelly. I hung out with Grace all day since Jared had to work. Neither one of us are big parade people so we didn’t make it to that. I’m not a fan of the crowds, they make me nervous and I didn’t want to go into a full blown panic attack with Grace there, and a whole bunch of $.25 bead hungry drunks. So instead we played and cleaned and napped until Dad got home. He brought presents and flowers. I got books and a SPA package, all of which I was super excited about. Jared booked my appointment, and I went yesterday. I also got a long overdue haircut, and went shopping, all by myself. It was so much fun and I really enjoyed all of it but I was sad to be away from Jared and Grace all day on one of my oh so short weekend days.
Onto the best part of February. Grace started WALKING! HOORAY!!! I’ve never seen three people more excited about anything. We all jumped around and laughed and WALKED! So Jared was playing with her on the floor and she stood up by herself for a long time, so I stopped what I was doing and got on the floor. Now keep in mind that she’s never really stood by herself for more than a second. So when I got on the floor Jared stood her up and we started coaxing her to come to us and she did. Grace was so proud of herself. We have a little video of it, but it’s kind of dark.

When will the snot end?
Really. If it’s not Grace’s, then it’s mine. She was sick yet again, and then it was Mommy’s turn. Lucky for her she gets to stay home and get anything, and I do mean anything she wants. We love her and spoil her until she’s better. But when I’m sick I get to go to work, take care of Grace until Jared can relieve me, then there are grocery trips, dirty bottles and laundry. I have made a decision, Mommy’s not getting sick anymore. I’m done, plus I don’t have time for it anyway. The only thing that makes me feel better is that Grace is feeling better and really when she’s happy, we’re all happy. Even when she’s sick and running fever, she still has a smile on her face, and most of the time, she’s in a good enough mood to play.
There’s still one thing that’s troubling me. Why is it that a kid can be running fever, running fever, you take then to the doctor, and magically no fever. But the second you pull in the driveway at home the fever comes back. I think they’re pumping a Tylenol concoction out the air vents at the pediatrician’s office. Really.

Godparents
I don't know if I ever mentioned that Grace has godparents. We haven't yet had her baptized, but we intend to. Uncle Josh is her godfather and Nanny (Lindsay) is her godmother.

New Tricks at the Circus
Grace has learned quite a few new tricks lately, other then attempting to eat the dogs’ food and condition her hair with pureed peas. Climbing onto or into things is one or her favorites; the dog bed, the toy box, etc. Some things she climbs under, and other things we put her in, like the ottoman. Why? Because it’s funny.

Some other, and much more fun things she’s been doing is grabbing our legs while we walk, sticking her head between our legs and trying to follow.

We’ve also been teaching her fun tricks too. Daddy showed her how to turn the lights on and off, but I think it frustrates her because she can’t reach on her own. She’s also starting to a sippy cup, which was very slow at first, but like everything else Grace is catching on super fast. Having her teeth brushed is another first for her. I wanted to start really early in am attempt to get her in the habit of it. Although I was very worried she’d fight it, she loves it.

And last but not least, Grace has wagged an anti diaper war. Almost every time we change her diaper she tries to make a run for it. It’s so frustrating, but we just can’t help but laugh while she crawls across the floor with her naked bottom in the air, usually with inside out pajama pants hanging off her feet.
